It was Friday night on Nov.20th and my wife and I were planning our weekly night out for dinner. I was taking a shower and I started to feel strange. Couldn’t really put my finger on it but different. It seemed to come and go. By the time that we got to the restaurant I was felling really strange. I was getting real disorientated, clammy and my chest started to hurt. It would go away and then come back stronger then ever. By the time we reached home I was in real bad shape. My chest felt like someone was hitting me with a sledge hammer and stabbing me in the back at the same time and pain was shooting down the undersides of each arm. We wife talked me into going to the hospital, I don’t like hospitals but I agreed. When we got there I started to feel a lot better so we waited for a spell and I was thinking of going back home. Then it hit me with a vengeance. When I got to the emergency room I was in bad shape, my lips were blue and hardly able to stand. Once inside it was like a whirl wind. It seemed like a hundred people were working on me at once. I could not believe it, I was having a full blown heart attack. They told me that if I would have waited an hour longer I probably would not have made it. The cardiologist which came in which ended up being a customer of mine. With in an hour I was have a stent put in. I had a clot that was blocking 100% of one of the arteries around my heart.
So the first person I want to thank is my wife. If she hadn’t have talked me into going to the hospital I would not be writing this right now. I also want to thank all the people in the hospital. Without their fast action and care who knows what would have happened. I really need to thank my family for being there at my side for my stay in the hospital, they have no idea how much that meant to me to see them so concerned. While I am saying thanks I need to thank Ryan my son-in-law and my Service Manager in our business. He stepped up and took over while I was laid up. If he hadn’t have been able to handle the business like he did there is no telling what would have happened. I also want to thank my other guys, Ted and Marc. They also stepped up and really helped out. I have the best crew a person could ask for.
A real big thanks goes out to my customers and vendors. I could not believe the number of cards, emails, flowers, calls and well wishes that I received. It really blew me away. My customers are more then just clients, they are friends and I truly saw that. Even to this day everyone is still inquiring about me and hoping that I am doing better. You know there are rewards to owning a business that you would never, ever think about until something like this happens.
